Measure Lamp Shades Size

Using a measuring tape or a ruler measure your lamp from the bottom of the base to the point where the electrical socket attaches to the base.

Measure lamp shades size.

Flip the lamp shade right side up. Your shade should be about two thirds the height of your lamp base give or take an inch. Sometimes a shade s slope is referred to as its height. For the height measure from the lamp base to the bottom of the rod so the rod and the bulb holder are not included in the measurement.

The height of a floor lamp shade should be approximately the height of the base x 30 to 40. Height of the shade. Write down this measurement. The floor lamp shade s height must be approximately the height of the base x30.

Set the shade down on the table once more. Flip the lamp shade upside down and measure from one edge to the opposite edge across the bottom diameter just as you did when measuring the top. Since the lamps diameters are smaller than the desk s width they are the correct size. At 16 a little under 90 of the base.
