They were added to minecraft in update 1 7. We need to take it a step further though. A gable roof also known as a pitched or peaked roof is an inverted v. At the most basic utilitarian level glass panes allow you to see creepers lurking outside your front door before you open it but at their most beautiful they can enable huge impressive stained glass creations.

Allowing for the very thick walls one gets in minecraft that give a usable internal space of 4 8 meters. Before stained glass was added there was a similar block named tinted glass in the april fools version 2 0 which had the same use. I honestly don t know why we haven t seen this added into minecraft yet. Minecraft is a chance to make roofs that are better than anyone has ever made.

Stained glass is a decorative variant of a regular glass block but it has a colored tint added to it. But i can t seem to cajole my glass pane to take any shape other than the t intersection shape that allows me and mobs to walk in through the roof.
