Take out the screws then carefully pry off the plate with a flat head screwdriver. With the plate removed you can now pull the latch mechanism through the side of the door. You can pull out the cable from the back of the handle by pulling back on the housing cable and rotating the cable counter clockwise in the socket so that it lines up with the opening as to be pulled out.
